Path to Tango

Tango is a journey, not a destination.

Learning Roadmap

We offer classes designed to take you from your very first steps all the way to achieving your ultimate dance goals.

Below, you'll find a step-by-step roadmap of classes in our curriculum - you can use this to plan your journey and track your progress.

0 - Starting Out

Ready to take your first steps into Argentine tango?

Zero to Tango Series

Who this is for: students who are brand new to tango or have a few lessons under your belt.

Our Beginner series is a fun, welcoming introduction designed for absolute beginners.

The series consists of 4 weekly lessons, each an hour long. You’ll learn the foundations of connection, walking together, ochos, the tango embrace, and simple turns—all at a relaxed pace that makes learning enjoyable.

You're on to the next step!

Once you've completed the Zero to Tango Beginner series, continue your journey with our 4-week Advanced Beginner series. You’ll develop your technique, deepen your understanding of connection, and start exploring improvisation. We rotate the focus and content of this series so it can be taken multiple times.

Example vocabulary covered: crosses, ocho cortado, baldosa (six-count box), ochos

2 - Intermediate

Deepening understanding and solidifying your dance

Intermediate Series

Prerequisite: Completed at least one Beyond Beginner series or equivalent experience.

You've got the skills...it's time to hone them.

With everyone having strong foundations in the fundamentals, we can accelerate learning and really start to dig into higher-level concepts. This ongoing 4-week series focuses on improving posture, close embrace, expanding walking technique, more creative musicality, and expanding our vocabulary.

Example vocabulary: sacadas, paradas, slow walking, back crosses, refined spiral, rhythmic combos

3 - Advanced Intermediate

Refinement, exploration, and finding your personality

Adv. Intermediate Series

Prerequisite: Instructor approval only.

This 4-week series is offered irregularly according to student demand. This series is for intermediate-level dancers who want to expand into more advanced concepts. Each series delves deeply into a single tango element and explores it in focused lessons.

Example subjects: boelos, back sacadas, milonga, vals, syncopas, ganchos, leg wraps
